United’s Academy under-9 side were in fine form at the weekend as they ran out as tournament winners following a series of round-robin games against Fleetwood, Morecambe and Coventry.
The tournament took place at Fleetwood’s training centre, Poolfoot Farm, where the boys played some excellent football to take their place in the big final, which pitted them against hosts Fleetwood Town.
Coach Robbie Edgar said: “The boys were exceptional and showed a lot of grit and determination to come out on top.
“We are really happy with how they have progressed this season. They’ve shown a real ability to take what they've learned in training into a match situation.”
