Club partners and sponsors Eddie Wannop Limited are generously auctioning off their executive box at Carlisle United for the home game on Saturday 21 April against Luton Town FC.
The auction will raise money for Jigsaw Children’s Hospice on behalf of the local awareness campaign - Jodie’s Journey.
Jodie is currently a patient at Jigsaw Hospice suffering from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
EDS is a rare connective tissue disorder that affects the collagen in the body; normally this resembles a strong glue but, with EDS, it is more like chewing gum, therefore, the joints are not supported properly which causes chronic pain and dislocations.
It also affects the way internal organs, nerves and muscles work, and this can cause severe complications.
Because Jodie cannot tolerate any food, it resulted in her being fed intravenously, TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition). This is how nutrients she needs to survive are fed directly into her heart, via a central line.
Unfortunately, this comes with serious life-threatening risks, including central venous catheter infections (eg septicaemia) and liver disease, but this is Jodie's 'lifeline'.
