Carlisle United can confirm that the contract offered to midfielder James Bailey is now off the table as manager Keith Curle closes in on additions to the squad ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
Bailey, 28, joined United on a short-term deal in February and went on to make 14 appearances before being offered a contract at the end of the season.
Manager Keith Curle said: "James came in at a time when we needed cover in the midfield areas and we were very pleased with how he settled and integrated.
"We felt there was more to come from him but we're at a stage now we're working hard on recruitment and everyone needs to be clear on their next moves.
"We wish him all the very best and thank him for his efforts through his time with us."
