United’s band of volunteers came together for their first day of tasks today with the Pioneer Foods Stand top of the agenda as the yellow safety stripes on the steps were given a clean up and a lick of paint.

CUSG chairman Simon Clarkson said: “It was a great start today. We worked well as a team and covered a big area of the stadium.

“There is still plenty of work to do and we look forward to welcoming more new faces over the coming days.”

And with refurbishment work also ongoing in many of the catering facilities around the ground project manager Matthew Spooner from World Group – our back of shirt sponsors for a second season – has also asked for anyone who has painting and decorating experience to help to finish off the revamp of the Sunset Suite.

Speaking earlier today, he said: “We’re at the point where we need a final push to get the job completed. We should be at the stage where we can add the final touches early next week, so please get in touch if you’re interested in coming along.

“The volunteer days run tomorrow [Friday], and next Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and if there is anyone who would to help the club outside of normal working hours I’m sure that can be arranged. Just get in touch and we can discuss the finer details and take it from there.”

Fans interested in volunteering should contact CUSG via email on cusg@cusclb.com or tweet @CarlisleUnitedSG
