Luke Lloyd bagged United's goal on a day when they came away knowing that they could and probably should have taken all three points.
Morecambe scored from their only shot on target and the Cumbrians created eight clear-cut chances as they played some excellent football.
Youth boss Darren Edmondson said: "We had a lot of possession but the final pass, cross or shot was often the wrong decision at the time.
"Having said that, we still created enough to have got the win. That aside we can still feel very pleased with our overall performance."
