News from the Saturday friendly at Workington
United's third friendly of pre-season was the relatively short trip to Workington on Saturday afternoon.

1 to 5 mins - United enjoyed a lot of possession but Workington held their shape. A good ball from Lambe earned the visitors their first corner when an Adams cross was blocked.
10 mins - Shaun Miller took the ball down and clipped it wide for Adams to cross first time. Simpson put it behind but, again, the set-piece delivery was cleared.
13 mins - A deep Danny Grainger free kick evaded everyone as it skipped beyond the far post.
15 mins - A lovely through ball from Lambe took Shaun Miller on a run into the box. He was chopped to the floor but he dusted himself down and slotted a perfect spot kick into the back of the net. Workington 0 - 1 United.
19 mins - Jones clipped a high pass into the wind but a sliding tackle denied the Trialist forward as he tried to push on.
23 mins - An inswinging Grainger corner was well claimed by Taylor as he stood tall on his line.
25 mins - A great build up by the visitors took them from back to front with Lambe, Jones and Adams at the heart of it. Tom Miller crossed but it was nodded clear by May.
29 mins - Carlisle went for a slick move through the middle of the park and McKee fed the Trialist with a neat pass as he beat his man. Taylor dived long to make a save but Shaun Miller was quick to pick up the pieces. The Trialist took a good position and there were loud appeals for a penalty as his shot hammered off the arm of a Workington defender.
31 - The first real chance for the hosts came when Symington curled a cross into the box. Hebson dived to head it but it was just too far away and it bent harmlessly beyond the advancing attackers.
38 mins - More quick one-touch football from Lambe and Shaun Miller left the Trialist with space to exploit. It came to him on the edge of the area but Taylor was equal to the stinging goal-bound effort.
39 mins - It was an inspired spell for Taylor as he once again found himself as the last line of defence. Shaun Miller supplied the pass and the Trialist thought he'd done enough until a strong hand pushed his thunderbolt onto the bar.
45 mins - Lambe went for glory from 25 yards but Taylor scrambled across to get two hands onto it.

48 mins - The home side equalised when Tinnion robbed possession from Kennedy on the half way line. He ran to the edge of the box, bent his run and curled an unstoppable shot into the top corner to the appreciative applause of the crowd. Workington 1 - 1 United.
50 mins - Russell Penn immediately stole the limelight when he took charge in midfield. His first touch took him into a shooting position 27 yards out and his second touch was a bullet of an effort which rattled into the top corner. Workington 1 - 2 United.
51 mins - Ibehre won a corner as he turned his man and Ellis was a whisker away as he nodded Grainger's delivery just past the angle of post and bar.
52 mins - Carlisle bagged another beauty of a goal when Grainger lifted a delicate pass into the area. Joe McKee did the rest with a cool and calm volley which left Taylor with no chance. Workington 1 - 3 United.
55 mins - Taylor did well to stop Lambe from going clean through and he recovered in time to do the same with Ibehre as Carlisle threatened to extend their lead.
57 mins - Kilifin found himself in space and at angle just inside the area but he couldn't squeeze it past the Trialist stopper who got a firm hand to it.
65 mins - A deep cross from Kennedy had Ibehre interested but it was nodded clear by Henderson before he could make his mark.
68 mins - Ibehre used pace and power to get wide on the right but the alert Henderson did just about enough as Kennedy tried to bring it down.
75 mins - Penn went close with a rasper from distance which dipped just over the bar.
78 mins - A slip brought an end to another flowing United move as Devitt lost his footing inside the opposition box.
82 mins - A jinking run from Allison created space for a low shot which the Trialist keeper did well to deal with as it headed for his bottom corner.
86 mins - Penn twisted into space but hammered a first time shot just over the target.
