MANAGER: Another challenge to be faced head on

19 January 2016

Keith Curle ahead of the FA Cup replay at Yeovil

Manager Keith Curle spoke to us about tonight’s FA Cup third round replay against Yeovil at Huish Park.

“It’s testament to the football club that they’ve allowed us to prepare in the right way,” he said. “They gave us the finances to stay down south after the Barnet game and the players have used the time well.

“They had down time as normal on Saturday night, because I’m not a manager who believes in curfews. I know I’m surrounded by professional people so that’s how they will be treated. They regrouped and recovered after Saturday ready for training in Bristol on Sunday and Monday, and they’ll have their pre-match meal in Yeovil on Tuesday.”

“The players know it’s a big game and they all know the best way to recover is to rest,” he continued. “It’s another game of football and another occasion where we will demand a good level of performance.

“I don’t think we did enough on the day against them two weeks ago but there were reasons behind that which can be rectified. We’re still in the hat and, home or away, we don’t mind having a good go at it.”

“The attitude and performance at Barnet gives me plenty to think about ahead of Tuesday night,” he told us. “We’ll look at the reports we have about Yeovil and then we’ll start to think about the team for the FA Cup game.

“Yeovil have had a little bit of life breathed back into them but we think it’s a game we can win. We don’t show any fear to any team we play in this division. Every game is a challenge and our challenges are all to be faced head on.”
