FANS: Norwegian Branch sponsor Academy projects

4 December 2016

Fantastic donation from our Norwegian supporters

The Norwegian Branch of the Carlisle United Supporters' Club made their latest trip to watch the lads for the recent home game against Exeter City - and what a game it was!

And to make it an even more special day they went pitchside with chairman Andrew Jenkins to present the club with a cheque for £1,500, to be used for Academy projects as we head into the New Year.

Flekkefjord based branch member Paal Meier said: "Some years ago we donated £5,000 to help pay for the Academy mini-bus, and we also purchased hats and gloves for the U18 side for use in their winter training sessions.

"We spoke with the club last month, to let them know that seven of us were coming over for the Exeter game, and also to let them know that we had another £1,500 we wanted to donate.

"It was really nice to meet with Nigel Clibbens and Phil King and we have agreed that the donation will once again go towards Academy projects.

"We are all huge United fans and it's fantastic for us to be able to help in this way."

Chief Executive Nigel Clibbens said: "It was lovely to meet the Norwegian Branch fans and it's a fantastic gesture by them to donate this money for use by the Academy.

"They are clearly massive fans and we can't thank them enough for their support and their generous donation.

"The most pleasing thing about the day was the fact they got to see a superb fight back and a really dramatic win. We hope to see them many more times as the season starts to get really exciting."
