Keith Curle with an update on defender Alexander McQueen
Manager Keith Curle confirmed that face-to-face talks are set to take place with defender Alexander McQueen following an exchange of messages with the player.
McQueen, 21, was offered a new deal at the end of a first successful season with the Cumbrians in May but has yet to make a decision having spent the last few months away from the club.
“I had a text from Alex on Friday and he wants to arrange a meeting for the earliest opportunity this week,” Curle explained. “I told him we had games on Saturday and Tuesday and that he should give me a ring on Wednesday.
“I’ve said before I don’t do negotiations by text or whatsapp, or anything like that, because I prefer to do it face-to-face. That hasn’t changed so we’ll see if we can get there with it.”
