BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Morecambe

7 October 2015

A look ahead to this weekend's Morecambe home game

United come home off the back of two excellent away victories – at Orient and Stevenage – and manager Keith Curle remains determined that his charges will turn Brunton Park into a fortress as the encouraging start to the season continues.

“We keep reminding people that we’re still very much a work in progress but, hand-in-hand with that, we also want people to embrace the fact that the team is playing some entertaining football at the moment,” Curle said.

“We want people to come along, get behind us and get on board with what we hope will be an exciting journey. Home results are obviously central to that, so we want to make this a difficult place for visiting teams come to. We’ve seen in recent seasons that the away team has enjoyed coming here. That simply has to change.”

Remember, you can save £3 on match day prices by purchasing your ticket before 5pm on Friday. Pop down in person, call the ticket office on 0844 371 1921 or buy online and print at home by clicking HERE.

The Big Match

A huge thank you goes to St Nicholas Arms, our Match Ball Sponsors for the Morecambe game.

The St Nicholas Arms have taken nine match ball sponsorship packages so you’ll see them with us a lot this season.

The next St Nicholas Arms match ball sponsorship package is for the Portsmouth home game on 21 November.

For more information on match sponsorship opportunities, call our commercial department on 01228 554 155.

The Mascots

Our mascots on Saturday are Annie Ellwood and Charlotte Graves. Annie’s favourite player is Bastien Hery and Charlotte tells us that her hero is that man Jabo Ibehre.

Charlotte is particularly excited about meeting the players and going out onto the pitch but, get this, Annie is most looking forward to meeting Dolly! We hope that experience doesn’t turn out to be too scary for her.

Have a good day girls!

Our match referee is Mr Peter Bankes. Peter has taken charge of 11 games so far this season and has shown a total of 46 yellow cards.

By far his most interesting encounter so far this term was on the opening day of the season when he was the man in the middle for the Birmingham v Reading Championship fixture. He brandished the yellow card on nine separate occasions, with five City players and four Royals going in the book.

The last time we saw him was, coincidentally, for our 1-1 home draw with Morecambe in March this year. Charlie Wyke and Jack Redshaw were the only bookings on the day, and Brad Potts and Padraig Amond scored the goals.

The Brunton Park Playlist

The office staff have sorted a playlist of ‘banging’ tunes for this weekend. From the 80’s all the way through to present day, we think we’ve covered something for just about everyone.

Tune in on the terraces and in the stands and please give us your feedback by dropping an email to media@carlisleunited.co.uk with your thoughts on our match day music selection.

And, standby, because we’ll be handing match day music playlist duties over to YOU, the fans, for future games. Watch out for more information on that on the official website and on our social media channels this coming week.
