BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Crawley Town come to Brunton Park

25 November 2015

All you need to know about the weekend visit of Crawley

A week that brought six goals and four points leaves United poised in a nice position in League Two ... and we don’t want you to miss a kick from here on in!

Don’t forget we have our cut-price ticket offer for the visit of Crawley Town on Saturday and we honestly feel this is an offer you can’t afford to miss.

Entertainment is the buzzword around Brunton Park and as the manager embarks on his mission to bring continued improvement in every area, he’s asking for your support to help him along the way.

“There’s a never-say-die attitude and we want the fans to witness it and be part of it,” he said. “The lads are certainly digging deep to do their bit and I think the last two games have demonstrated that particular aspect better than any words can say.

“We pushed and pushed against arguably the best team in this division last weekend and the quality of the goal to earn us the point is something which will be remembered for a long time to come.

“We then went to Luton, another very well organised and eye-catching side, and did what we had to do despite being two goals adrift with just half an hour left to play. To win the game in those circumstances is exceptional and we’re asking the fans to come along and help us on our way to producing more of the same.

“Carlisle United Football Club is a formidable unit when we all stand together. There’s still work to do and we want everyone to play their part in what we want to achieve.”

Remember, you can save £3 on match day prices (or £2 with this weekend's offer) by purchasing your ticket before 5pm on Friday. Pop down in person, call the ticket office on 0844 371 1921 or buy online and print at home, or order for collection, by clicking HERE.

Our Cumberland Building Society ticket pod [Fisher Street Branch] is also open for the sale of home match day tickets on Wednesdays [10am to 3pm], Thursdays [10am to 5pm] and Fridays [10am to 5pm] in the week leading up to the game.

Our Crawley Town cut-price ticket offer

Match day savings of up to £10 are up for grabs this weekend, and we’ll be reducing the match day price increase to just £2 as we look to bring the Blue Army out in force – hopefully to witness more of the kind of entertainment which has got everyone talking this season.

Another contender for Goal of the Week from the right boot of Danny Grainger? You have to be here to find out!

Thank you to our Match Sponsors

Foxy’s Restaurant is full again on Saturday and we are delighted that we are welcoming Thomas Graham back to Brunton Park as our Main Match Sponsors. Approximately 70 of their guests will join us, and we’re even more delighted to say they have a very good record in bringing us a hefty slice of good luck. Here’s to another positive outcome against Crawley.

Our friends from Opera Bingo on Denton Street, here in Carlisle, are our Associate Match Sponsors and we are looking forward to working with them going forward as another new and exciting partnership begins to develop.

We have two Match Ball Sponsors this weekend. Les Calvert and his guests are with us and we also welcome Nigel Holmes and Judith Tyson, and their spouses Louise and Franc, who are sponsoring the ball in memory of their father Gordon who passed away in February.

We hope all of our corporate and hospitality guests have an enjoyable day with us.

The Man in the Middle

Our match referee this weekend is Mr Graham Salisbury. Graham has taken charge of 17 games so far this season and has shown 50 yellow cards and five reds – an average of just over three cards per game.

A regular at Carlisle games in the past (he took charge of our 2011 JPT appearance at Wembley when Toumani Diagouraga was sent off and Peter Murphy scored our trophy winning goal) his last visit to Brunton Park was in April for our 1-0 victory over Dagenham. Jason Kennedy scored the goal, and Troy Archibald-Henville and Ayo Obileye were given their marching orders in time added on.

He was also the official for our 1-0 away defeat at Shrewsbury in September last season. Jermaine Grandison scored the Shrews’ winner just before the break and Paul Thirlwell was shown a red card when he picked up a second yellow, again in time added on, at the end of another frustrating day.

Our betting partner Sky Bet has some fantastic odds available on all match markets – click HERE for more details.

The Mascots

Our mascots this weekend are Jamie Drinkwater and Tom McDowell.

Jamie is a big fan of all-action defender Tom Miller, and he told us that Neymar is his second favourite player. Tom is an Alex Gilliead supporter, but also tells us that Danny Grainger is one of his favourite players to watch.

Have a good day lads!
