MANAGER: I know the areas I want to strengthen

8 March 2015

Keith Curle with an update on his search for loan signings

Manager Keith Curle gave us an update on his search for players to add to the squad as news emerged that a midfielder had slipped through his grasp at the end of last week.

“We had everything ready for a player to come over,” he said. “He was recovering from injury and he thought it was going to be a matter of days before it was sorted. He expected to be back in training last Thursday but he was sent for a routine scan, just to make sure everything was right. It came up that he had a slightly worse injury than had been diagnosed.

“That meant he wasn’t allowed to come out on loan and we fully respect that. That one has to go on the back burner now because of the nature of the injury. It could calm down in two to three weeks, but we don’t know.

“The search goes on because there are areas of the pitch I do want to strengthen. What I’m looking for, if it comes available, is a little bit of balance on the left hand side. We need a slightly more creative player in midfield and an attack minded full back. We know we need to open doors and, if we can’t go down the right, we need to be able to go down the left.”

“We’ve had good communication with two other clubs about players and we’ll be following those up over the weekend and on Monday,” he told us. “With one of them, his team was involved in a cup competition on Saturday so we’ll have to see where that one goes. The availability of players changes on a daily basis and that’s something we will continue to monitor.

“As I keep saying, I want to make sure we get the right type of player in to help us with what we need to do. We’ll continue to work on that and we’ll add to the group as soon as we can get everything to fall into place.”
