FRIENDLY: United 4 - 3 Preston

28 July 2015

Update from the Tuesday night friendly against Preston North End

1 min - Early shot from Preston from distance but it was well wide.

5 mins - Brough swung a ball in, it pinged off Ibehre and Kennedy, Preston were able to clear before Joyce could shoot.

10 mins - Hanford watched another low drive from distance. He took it well as it skipped off the surface.

10 mins - Good strength from Atkinson when Keane tried to bully his way through 12 yards out. Hanford stepped in to gather as the ball spilled loose.

12 mins - Superb work from Reid as he skipped past his man on the right. Lovely delivery and a fine header from close range from Hugill left Hanford with no chance.

14 mins - Reid created another opening when he ran clear and crossed low. Atkinson had to hook it clear before Keane could stab it in.

15 mins - Preston broke through the heart of midfield and Reid released Keane on the edge of the area. Raynes moved across to make a vital block.

20 mins - Brough and Hery did well on the left as they weaved their way through. A shot from Wyke was blocked but Hery was there to pick up the pieces and deliver. Tom Miller arrived late to power a header into the back of the net.

22 mins - Hery brought Hugill down on the edge of the box but Reid sent the free kick into the wall.

26 mins - Kennedy played a one-two with Ibehre and the inside pass left the midfielder in space. He made no mistake as he drew the keeper and slotted it into the bottom corner.

28 mins - Preston drew level when Hugill took advantage of an error from Raynes. His cut back left Keane with the easy task of popping it into the empty net.

32 mins - Hugill did well to get past Hery and Grainger but the shot was easily gathered by Hanford.

34 mins - A whipped free kick from Grainger was spilled by Jones but Brough couldn't get the shot off and Preston cleared the danger.

37 mins - Reid found Keane in the box. His shot was blocked then Raynes blocked the follow up from Little.

39 mins - A push on Wyke brought a point to the spot from the referee and Grainger made no mistake as he sent Jones the wrong way with a very calm penalty.

42 mins - Hery made space as he lifted the ball over a challenge but his 25 yard volley was always going high.

50 mins - Errors from Raynes and Kennedy left Hugill to sprint clear and draw Hanford from his line. The keeper stayed big but it was a crisp drive and a firm bulge of the net.

58 mins - Good work from Wyke invited midfielders to get forward in support, but the pass lacked pace and Thompson was left frustrated as it was cleared off his toe.

67 mins - A late challenge from McQueen brought an immediate red card from Mr Clark as he deemed it to be a dangerous tackle.

68 mins - A deep cross caught United light at the back but it bounced high and Little couldn't quite make up the ground.

79 mins - Brownhill somehow wriggled his way through to a shooting position but Hanford dropped low to make a block with his feet.

80 mins - Sharp footwork from Rigg took him into a good area and wild jump from Jones brought the second penalty of the night. Grainger took a deep breath and swept it into the back of the net.

89 mins - A Johnson shot from 25 yards deflected off Archibald-Henville and curled behind for a corner. Another late effort was blocked as United held on to their one goal advantage.
