The chosen winners of the £1,000 donations
Carlisle United Football Club are given the opportunity, every year, to present a cheque for £1,000 to two local charities as part of the FA Community Shield distribution fund – cash raised from the Community Shield fixture and distributed to all 124 clubs who compete in the FA Cup from the first round proper onwards.
We asked you to send in your nominations for your favourite charity - thank you for the fantastic response, with some wonderful causes highlighted.
The chosen charities who will recieve £1,000 are Carlisle Key and East Cumbria Family Support.
Carlisle Key are a charity based on Warwick Road, in Carlisle, who aim to help 16-25 year olds towards independent living. They offer advice and support with housing options, benefits, employment, education and training, as well as practical support such as food parcels, toiletries and clothing.
East Cumbria Family Support offer help and support to families experiencing stress or difficulty and aim to offer practical, emotional and accessible support to reduce isolation and health inequalities.
