INTERVIEW: Looking forward to getting involved

Hayden White on his loan move

Bolton Wanderers defender Hayden White spoke to us about his loan move shortly before his first training session at Brunton Park on Thursday morning.

"I only found out this was all happening yesterday afternoon so it's all been done very quickly," he said. "This is my first loan move so I'm really looking forward to coming and playing some proper league football.

"I had a quick look at the league table and the results before I came up here and they obviously haven't been the best. Hopefully I can come in and help turn that around.

"I like these kind of challenges, when there's a lot of pressure, so hopefully I can perform well during this month. The staff at Bolton said it would be a good experience for me to come out and play some football and I was really happy to agree to that. I haven't had the chance to speak to Tony Caig and Paul Thirlwell yet but I'm looking forward to getting involved in training with the lads."

"Even though it's all happened quite quickly I've taken it all in my stride," he told us. "I was more excited than nervous when I was driving up this morning. I had to set off early but there was no traffic, so I quite enjoyed it!"

As for what we can expect to see, he said: "I like to think I've got a bit of pace about me. I like running with the ball and I always try and chip in with a couple of goals as well.

"I prefer playing right back but I'm comfortable with playing anywhere along the back line. I think it's important, with it being my first loan move, that I take the opportunity to try and show people what I can do.

"I just want to play as many games as I can to try and get some more experience under my belt. It has been really good to get a couple of appearances for Bolton this season, Championship football is really hard, so I think this is another good chance to play some tough games.

"The manager and the under-21 manager at Bolton have both shown a lot of faith in me so hopefully I can come here and prove I can play at this level now.

"I didn't know at the time but somebody from Carlisle came and watched me on Monday night, so it's really good to know that they've seen something that has made them want me to come here. It's good to know you're impressing somebody and I'm just looking forward to the challenge now."
