Defender in on loan from Bolton Wanderers
Carlisle United have today signed Bolton Wanderers defender Hayden White on emergency loan until 18 October 2014.
White, 19, came through the youth ranks at Sheffield Wednesday and signed for Bolton in July 2013 having turned down a contract at Hillsborough.
He made his professional debut in January 2014 and has a total of five appearances under his belt, including three at the start of this campaign.
“Hayden is a right back who can play in a couple of positions along the back line,” Paul Thirlwell said. “I think we all know we need a bit of strength in depth in that area at the moment so he will help us with that.
“He’s a big, strong lad who is very mobile and who is a good one against one defender. He’s the kind of player who will add value to what we’re trying to do.”
“I think part of the process of going through a season at any football club is that you’re always looking at whether or not you can add to the squad,” he continued. “To be fair to John [Nixon] and the board, they told us that if we could identify players who we could bring in then we should go ahead and do it.
“Hayden is one we have identified so Alan Moore went along to watch him on Monday night to confirm what we were all thinking. He had a good game and we’re delighted we’ve been able to get the deal done.”
“He’s played in Bolton’s first team recently and he’s shown he’s ready to take on the challenge of trying to get regular league football,” he said. “He’s a player who has quality and it’s up to him to meet that challenge head on now.
“The situation we faced on Tuesday meant both of our centre backs were unavailable and David Symington is the only right back in our squad, before we dip into the youth team. We need someone who can come in and give us options and we think Hayden fits that bill really well.”
White will wear squad number 26.
