MANAGER: It's particularly frustrating

14 March 2014

Graham Kavanagh with an injury update

United manager Graham Kavanagh brought us up to date with the latest injury situation this afternoon.

“We don’t really have any change on the injury front,” he said. “Liam Noble is having a scan today and there is still no timescale for him.

“We think he’s going to be a while. We’re not sure of the extent of it but he has a lot of bruising. We’ll just have to wait and see if anything is damaged.

“He’s been fortunate in that he’s never had a serious injury up to now. We hope it will be better than it looks and that he’ll have the chance to get back sooner rather than later. He’s frustrated because he just wants to play every minute of every game.

“It’s another one that gets added to the four senior players we already have injured but we’ve just got to get on with it.”

“Paul Thirlwell is improving but that’s happening very slowly for him,” he continued. “He’s due to see a specialist again to see if we can do anything with that one. Sean O’Hanlon hasn’t improved, as we speak, so we’re not sure when we will see him back.

“Matt Robson had an injection in his back yesterday and that usually take three or four days before it kicks in. We won’t know until later next week where we are at with him.”

“It’s a bad time for us to be getting these injuries,” he commented. “It’s particularly frustrating with the run of games we’re going into because it’s vitally important to have all of our senior and experienced players available as much as possible.

“That isn’t the case for us at the moment, but it’s an opportunity for other players to come in and do a job.”
