INTERVIEW: Pleased to be staying

Danny Redmond on extending his loan spell

Midfielder Danny Redmond spoke to us ahead of the Tuesday morning training session following the news that he had extended his loan deal for a further month.

"I'm pleased to be staying because I've enjoyed my first month," he said. "Hopefully I can keep improving during my second month here.

"There's nothing better than playing every week and that's something I need to be doing for my career at my age. I want to get as many games as I can under my belt so I can get as much experience as possible."

"I didn't have any second thoughts about staying on because, like I've said, I'm really enjoying my football here and I'm happy to carry on," he told us. "I'm just taking things as they come at the moment but if I was to extend my loan even further I would be happy about that.

"I'm not surprised with how quickly I've settled because I'm quite an easy-going person. The lads have been superb with me, as have the staff around the club, so I'm really happy here."

"I'll play anywhere and do anything Kav wants me to do," he admitted. "As long as I'm playing football I'm happy. I've heard that Wigan are pleased with how I'm doing so hopefully I can keep performing well. When you hear Kav and the staff praising you it does give you a big confidence boost when you're going out onto the pitch."

And on getting on the score sheet, he said: "I do seem to get myself in the positions to score so hopefully a goal will come. I should have scored on Saturday, and I was disappointed not to, but hopefully I can get one soon.

"it's on to tomorrow now and that's a huge game. Sheffield United are flying at the moment but we know we're capable of putting on a big performance and getting a result.

"They'll have a big crowd there, which is something I enjoy, because it creates a good atmosphere. Hopefully we can disappoint their fans and send our fans home happy."
