Carlisle United Football Club statement - 15 July 2014

Carlisle United announces today that David Irons, assistant manager at the club, will be leaving his position by mutual consent.

The chairman and directors would like to thank David for his work and commitment during his time at Brunton Park.

He joined the club in 2013 to take up the role of youth team manager when Eric Kinder left to join Blackburn Rovers. This was a period of change at the club as it prepared for the EPPP audit and continued to build our youth policy and strategy.

In September David opted to keep a ‘watching brief’ on the youth set up whilst joining the first team caretaker management staff after the departure of Greg Abbott.

Since the end of 2013 David has been assistant manager to Graham Kavanagh in difficult and trying circumstances as United battled against relegation from League One.

United now start the season ahead in League Two with a new team both on and off the field.

The club, chairman and directors reiterate their thanks to David after what has been a most difficult twelve months.
