ACADEMY: Cotehill & Cumwhinton Crusaders

19 July 2014

Meet another of our Academy linked clubs

Thanks to coach Mark Birch for helping us to introduce another of our academy linked clubs for this season – Cotehill & Cumwhinton Crusaders.

Cotehill & Cumwhinton Crusaders was created by former Carlisle United stars Mark Birch, Brendan McGill and Mick Galloway.

The club now coaches around 60 boys and girls from 4 to 12 years old over the course of the week.

Our Club is a not for profit community venture that is funded by grants and donations.

We are also supported and helped by companies and volunteers from the local community.

We are now a Football Association Charter Standard Club. We are affiliated to the Cumberland FA and, in addition, we have six teams in the Longhorn Under 7's, 8's, 11's (x2) 12's and 13's Youth Leagues.

Mark Birch said: “This is a fantastic link for us and we jumped at the opportunity to enter the agreement again.

“I believe the work which is happening within the foundation phase of the academy is excellent and I am delighted that our club can be a part of it.”

“We are excited about what this could mean for us and it shows the intention Carlisle United has to improve relations with the grassroots clubs as well as provide a grassroots friendly approach to recruiting.”
