United help local charities
Carlisle United are delighted to announce that we have chosen three local charities as recipients of donations from our share of the 2014 Football Association Community Shield fund.
BBC Radio Cumbria Jigsaw Appeal - £1,000
Great North Air Ambulance (in association with our NCS programme) - £500
CUFC Community Sports Trust Mental Health, Sports Relief Cup - £500
The process for distributing funds raised by the FA Community Shield for community based initiatives features the following components:
+ Funds available for distribution include the general admission ticket income, net of match expenses and all profits from the sale of the match programme.
+ The 2013 FA Community Shield contribution to the fund amounted to 35% of the total match day income.
+ Each competing club is allocated an equal section of the funds to donate to community initiatives of its choice.
+ A section of the fund is allocated to the 124 eligible clubs (those clubs that participated from the first round proper of the FA Cup last season) to nominate up to three local charities or community based initiatives to receive its share of the fund.
+ The remainder of the fund will be donated to the FA Charity Partner - Teenage Cancer Trust was chosen by the FA Community Shield Distribution Committee and FA Group Staff following a robust selection process.
