Matt Douglas and Danny Hodgson grabbed the goals to take United through to round two of the Youth Alliance Cup, but they didn't get it all their own way as York battled hard and kept things tight.
"We took our chances but this was a tough game," coach Dave Wilkes said. "The important thing is that we got through and we showed a lot of character."
