The Youth team played their second pre-season friendly of the summer on Saturday morning when they faced Airdrie at Creighton Rugby Club.Danny Hodgson opened the scoring in a very hard-fought game on 35 minutes but the visitors were back on level terms just before half time courtesy of a superbly struck 30-yard free kick.
The Cumbrians created the better of the chances and grabbed the winner on 75 minutes when Matty Douglas found the back of the net.
"We could have scored a few more goals and it was a very dogged performance from the lads," youth coach Chris Blake said. "Overall we are very pleased with the way we played with what was a very young side."
