Greg Abbott on Adam Campbell
Manager Greg Abbott spoke to us about the signing of Newcastle striker Adam Campbell on Thursday afternoon.
"He's a pacy player who we hope will put people on the back foot," he said. "He played a couple of games for Newcastle's first team at the end of last season and I think he'll give the team a freshness and some added energy. We want to be exciting and score some goals and we think he'll help us with that.
"I think we need some options because we haven't started as well as we wanted to. We're hoping he can find the goals and the pace that we need at the moment. We've looked at him for a while, we actually almost brought him here last season, but he broke into the first team and that brought an end to it for us.
"Alan [Pardew] knows that young players benefit from this type of loan spell and this will help him look at Adam in a competitive environment. We've had a couple of other young players from Newcastle so they know they'll get looked after when they're here."
"He's full of confidence and that can only be a good thing," he told us. "He's keen to play well at this level and to go back to Newcastle with a bit of ammunition to push for a starting place in their team.
"It's a good opportunity for Adam and he can play right across the front line. That gives us a couple of different things we can do with him."
