Frank Simek spoke to us after the Crewe game
Defender Frank Simek spoke to us about the 0-0 draw with Crewe on Tuesday night.
He said: “It was a tough game and it’s one we wanted to win.
“We didn’t create that many clear-cut chances but we take the clean sheet as a major positive. We haven’t had too many of those this season and hopefully we can carry it on when we get to Coventry.”
“Keeping a clean sheet helps with confidence for a back four,” he added. “You don’t want to be conceding too many goals. I always fancy us to score so, if we can keep them out at our end, we’ll be giving ourselves a chance. Crewe are a good team and they pass it well. I thought we dealt with them well in the end.”
“It’s good for me to be back in the squad,” he said. “I need games to get my fitness levels back up and I’m not too far away now. You can do all the training in the world butt it’s when you get four or five games on the bounce that you start to really pick things up.
“Brad Potts did well and that’s because he’s a very good footballer. All of the young lads are coming through and having a major impact and that’s good for all of us. It’s providing competition for places all over the pitch.
“It’s good playing with JP McGovern in front of me. He always wants the ball and he doesn’t give it away much at all. That makes him a pleasure to work with.
“Going to Coventry will be good. They were obviously right up there but they are a League One club now and we have to treat it that way. We’ll be going there to get the three points.”
