GET GAMES UNDER MY BELT

Michael O'Halloran on coming to Carlisle

New arrival Michael O'Halloran spoke to us at the team hotel on Friday night as he looks forward to a month on-loan at Brunton Park.

He said: "I didn't find out that anything definite might be happening until last night. My agent phoned me to tell me about it and I'm more than happy to be here.

"I need some game time and it'll be good to try and help the club."

As for today, it all turned into a bit of a rush for the Scottish U21 striker.

"I actually went into Bolton as normal to train with them," he explained. "I was then told to get my stuff ready so I could join up with the lads for their training session and for the trip down here. It happened quickly but I don't think that's a bad thing at all."

"I have to be honest and say I don't know too much about Carlisle," he confessed. "I was at Sheffield United last season and I got to know this level, so I know it's a team that plays football. They keep getting close to the play-off places as well so it's a team with a very good reputation.

"The lads seem to be a decent group. They like their banter and they just tried to get me to sing a song after the evening meal. I'm not sure I'm quite up to that yet, but we'll see what happens in the future."

"My time at Sheffield taught me this is a tough league to get out of," he continued. "I know what to expect from it and it's just good to have a chance to play with a team which wants to do things properly."

And on what he will bring to the squad, he added: "I can play out wide, if needed, but I also like to play in the hole through the middle. I like to think I've got a bit of pace and I'll do what I can to link the play up.

"Bolton want me to get as many games as I can under my belt. There are a lot of strikers there so they want me to get a bit of experience and hopefully I can go back there and push on.

"Greg [Abbott] has told me this is a footballing team and that suits me. I like to get on the ball as much as possible and he's told me I'll get an opportunity to show everyone what I can do.

"I'm only here for a month but there are a lot of games in that time. I'm looking forward to knuckling down and playing my part."

But did the pending Tottenham fixture have any bearing on his final decision?

"We were talking about the Spurs game today and that's a massive one for the club," he said. "It's at home as well so it's good for everybody. I'd love to play a part but I have to concentrate on doing well for the team in the games which are coming up."
