Longer spell for duo
Defender Alessio Bugno and midfielder Dale Hopson will be staying with the Cumbrians for a further week following a very successful trial period with the club which has seen them play a part in all five of the first team pre-season friendlies so far.
Fomer-Monza man Bugno and former-Darlington player Hopson teamed up with United on the first day of pre-season training and have earned themselves another five days to stake a claim with manager Greg Abbott.
Speaking to us this afternoon, the gaffer explained: "We've seen some good things from Dale and he is slightly different to what we already have here. He's played some good football and he's one we want to spend a little bit longer with."
"Alessio impressed everybody on Friday night with his performance and he has been really steady all the way through pre-season," he added. "He's fit and full of energy and determination and he's been a pleasure to work with.
"Both Dale and Alessio will stay with us this week and they should play some part in our game against Middlesbrough on Friday night. We can look at things again with both of them after that."
