STRIKER ENDS TRIAL SPELL

9 August 2012

Donaldson moves on

Former-Newcastle United forward Ryan Donaldson has ended his short spell with Carlisle United having featured in three of this season's pre-season friendly fixtures.

Donaldson first teamed up with United for their victory at Durham City two weeks ago and featured in the Middlesbrough and Morecambe games over the course of the last week.

He came through the youth ranks with the Magpies and enjoyed loan spells with Tranmere and Hartlepool during his time in the north east.

Manager Greg Abbott said: "Ryan has shown us that he's a good player and it was another tough decision for us to make.

"However, again we're in a situation where we want players who will be pushing for first team football right away and we couldn't guarantee that in this instance.

"He has worked hard and done really well so we wish him all the very best as he moves on."
