Tie to be played in early September
Carlisle United Football Club can confirm that the first round home tie in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy against Preston North End will be played on Tuesday 4 September, kick off 7.45pm.Full match details will follow in due course.
Manager Greg Abbott said: "I think I said on Saturday that this is a competition we like and it's a game we can look forward to. It's certainly one that has got the fans talking already and we'll go out there to try and do it properly.
"The fixtures are coming thick and fast and we're going to have to prepare properly and work hard for all of them. Preston are a good side and we'll have to focus fully on trying to get a positive result once we get through the league and cup games running up to this fixture."
