CST: Utilita Girls Cup

Trinity and Nelson Thomlinson to contest final

19 November 2019

It was a busy night for the Community Sports Trust team on Friday night as they held the Utilita Girls Cup knockout competition at Soccer World.

With 11 teams entered from seven different schools, it proved to be a very competitive event with some excellent football played.

The group stages were split as follows:

Group 1

Trinity A
Nelson Thomlinson B
Newman
Richard Rose Academy
QEGS B
Solway & Beacon Hill

Group 2

Trinity B
Nelson Thomlinson A
William Howard
QEGS A
Caldew

Some tight fixtures led to the nail-biting semi-finals with Trinity A and Nelson Thomlinson holding their nerve to make it through to the final, which will be played ahead of this weekend’s game.

Semi Finals

William Howard 1 - 2 Trinity A

Richard Rose Academy 1 - 4 Nelson Thomlinson A

Following Saturday’s final, to be held in the Neil Sports Centre, the successful team will then play in the area finals in Wigan against seven other teams.

Progression from that stage leads to the regional final in Preston with the ultimate prize a day out at Wembley for the national final to be played on 5 April 2020 prior to the kick off of the Leasing.com Trophy Final.

Well done to both Trinity A and Nelson Thomlinson A for making it through and good luck to both teams this weekend.
