CLUB: Foodbank collection ahead of the Northampton game

Foodbank collection on Saturday

15 December 2023

We are holding a food and Christmas gift collection in the run up to the home game with Northampton Town on Saturday 16 December.

The club, CUOSC and Carlisle United Community Sports Trust are all working together to make things a little better for those less fortunate in our community.

Donations will be collected and handed over to CARLISLE FOODBANK, AFFORDABLE FOOD HUB and 108 MEAL BANK who provide food and support for people in crisis.

Previous collections have always been well supported and we are hoping this one will be no different.

Donations can be made at the Study Centre at Brunton Park from 1pm until 2.30pm on the day of the game, where CUOSC volunteers will collect items.

If you can’t make that, the club is also accepting donations from Tuesday 12 December 2023 until 5pm on Friday 15 December 2023 at the ticket office upstairs in the Andrew Jenkins Stand sponsored by Pioneer Foodservice or in the Blues store on Warwick Road.

Please help if you can, every donation makes a difference.

Chief Executive Nigel Clibbens said: “The club and fans can make big difference to help others in our community. We appeal to fans for support to help if they can. Every single donation, however small, is appreciated.”

Matt Spooner from CUOSC, said: "We always want to play our part and help our community and we always welcome the fantastic support fans always give. Last year we were truly overwhelmed with the number of items generously donated from fans and local businesses.”

Teresa Mulholland, from Carlisle United Community Sports Trust, said: “Once again we will be supporting the 108-meal bank by volunteering, helping alongside other volunteers to provide a good meal, in a safe place, with volunteers eager to listen and help anyone who needs respite.

"As well as this, we will be helping with their Christmas Hamper appeal, working alongside the church, social services, and local authority health visitors to identify families in need and provide them with a festive hamper filled with groceries and toys. We will also be helping Affordable Food Hub to deliver food and gifts to families in need in the community, and collect much needed food donations for their community food hub.”

Every donation of tinned or long-life food - no matter how big or small - is valuable, but the Foodbank is always in need of UHT or powdered milk, and toiletries, nappies, baby wipes and household cleaning products would also be appreciated.
