United were at Croft Park for their latest friendly on Saturday afternoon.

Below is a minute-by-minute report from the game:

5' The trialist striker was played through by a lovely ball from midfield but the keeper got a touch on the shot to tip it behind for a corner.

6' The set piece delivery fell to Joyce from a half clearance. He tried to clip it into the top corner but it flew just past the angle of post and bar.

8' Rivers sent two excellent deliveries into the area. Maguire was close to both of them but Brisley defended well on both occasions.

15' Rivers dropped a shoulder and cut back inside into acres of space. He let go with a fierce punt but Brisley got enough on his header to divert it over the bar.

21' Dale whipped a low cross into the area and Brisley did well to clear before Reid could get his head to it. 

33' No real goalmouth action but an excellent tempo as both sides pushed and probed. 

34' The ball bounced kindly for Reid in midfield and he crept towards the edge of the box. He chose to shoot but it was weak and easy for the United keeper to gather.

37' More good Blyth play as Maguire was fed into space. He spotted Reid making a move and found him with a deft reverse pass. The striker tried to shoot first time but lost his bearings and dragged it wide.

40' Dale went past Liddle and drilled a powerful cross right at Cartwright. He couldn't get out of the way and it deflected off his head and spun just past the angle of post and bar.

42' Spartans finished the half well and Cartwright provided another test when he shot through legs at the bottom corner. The keeper was alert and saved it comfortably.

47' A lovely move as Shaun Miller combined with Devitt. The striker was clean through but he smashed his volley over the bar as the keeper closed the angles.

51' Mike Jones surged forward and made space for himself 20-yards out. His shot had purpose but it was miscued and it flew wide.

54' Adams beat his man and crossed. Shaun Miller got on it but his header was glanced and whipped across the face of goal.

64' A wonderful raking pass from Devitt was taken down beautifully by Shaun Miller. He went for a lob but the keeper somehow got there to tip it over.

66' Devitt was the supply line again with a dipping free kick. Shaun Miller nodded it at the back post but the stopper spread himself to make a point blank save.

70' The trialist striker bent his run and created a gap but his shot was right at the keeper.

72' A deflected shot from another trialist as United continued to work the ball well. Ellis nodded the corner at the keeper.

73' Two chances in quick succession for the hosts. Both were wasted - one was dragged wide and the other went begging as McTiernan hesitated.

77' Excellent approach play from Carlisle with Nabi right at the heart of it. His exchange of passes on the run led to a shooting opportunity but he was closed down as he switched to his right foot.

79' The trialist forward cut a lovely ball back and Hallam Hope didn't disappoint as he rifled an excellent finish into the roof of the net from 14 yards #cufc 

82' A half clearance fell to Gary Liddle and he left the keeper with no chance as he smashed the ball into the back of the net.

84' United added to the tally when a trialist striker was left in space. He picked his spot with a good finish.
