Midfielder Gary Dicker joins Kilmarnock on permanent deal
Carlisle United can confirm that midfielder Gary Dicker has left United by mutual consent today and has joined Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock, having agreed terms with his new club in the last hour.
Dicker, 29, signed for United on a two-year deal in the summer of 2014 and scored once in his 50 appearances for the club.
Manager Keith Curle said: “We thank Gary for his efforts and commitment and it goes without saying that we wish him well.
"The understanding has always been that if a player on the transfer list can secure a future beyond the end of this season, to further his career, then that's what we will allow him to do.
"Gary now sees his long term future to be up in Scotland, but we have to say that he had bought in to everything we were trying to do. That was very good to see and we always got strong, committed performances from him whenever he took to the pitch.
"As I say, we wish Gary well as he moves on to take this next step in his career."
Irish-born Dicker started his career with UCD and was invited for a trial spell with Birmingham City during the League of Ireland close season in 2007. He signed for Stockport County that same year and joined League One Brighton two years later having made 68 appearances at the County Ground.
He went on to make over 150 appearances for the Seagulls and helped them to gain promotion to the Championship in season 2010/11 before spending part of the 2013/14 season on short-term contracts at Rochdale and Crawley.
