5 September 2015

Fan Representative vote finalised for 1921 Ltd board position

Voting for the position of non-executive director Fan Representative on the Carlisle United AFC (1921) Ltd board of directors has closed, with the votes counted and verified as follows:

Claire Winder – 241

Stuart Irving – 218

Bruce Vander Taylor – 128

Matthew Spooner – 125

Total votes cast: 712

Carlisle United Football Club would like to thank all four candidates for the positive manner in which they conducted themselves throughout the voting process.

Sales and marketing director Phil King said: “We are extremely happy with the response from the fans and we would like to congratulate Claire on her appointment.

“We were very impressed with the strength and quality of the initial applicants and the ideas put forward by the final four really captured the imagination, hence the number of votes cast.

“We’ll be speaking to Stuart, Bruce and Matthew as part of the process going forward, because the passion they have shown is exactly the kind of thing which will help us to move on and start to implement and discuss new ideas which we hope will be of benefit to the fans.

“We’ll invite Claire into the club early next week to discuss her next steps, and her position will be confirmed at the next board meeting.”

Present at the vote count on Saturday morning were Phil King, Jon Colman [News & Star], James Phillips [BBC Radio Cumbria] and Barbara Abbott [Cumbrians.net].
