ACADEMY: West Cumbrian Development Centre partnership

29 April 2015

Dobies Charitable Trust in partnership with Development Centre

Carlisle United Football Club are pleased to announce that Dobies Charitable Trust have agreed to work in partnership with our Whitehaven Development Centre after agreeing to cover the facility fee.

Academy coach Ben Benson said: "I am delighted that Dobies Charitable Trust have chosen to work in partnership with the Whitehaven Development Centre for the 2015/16 season.

"As an academy we have benefited hugely and will continue to benefit in years to come from having the Development Centres in place. It has become an important part of our youth development policy.

"I am delighted that the Dobies Charitable Trust has recognised the work we do at the Development Centre and that they have seen the success that the programme provides to the wider community. With their support, we enter next season full of high hopes.

"I know I speak on behalf of all the youth development staff, players and parents in saying a massive thank you to all connected to the Dobies Charitable Trust for leading us into our third year of development training."

"I would also like to thank Dick Young, Katie Mitchell and, in particular, the CUFC Business Club," he continued. "The Business Club will be the Development Centre shirt sponsor for a second season next year."

Sarah Newton, manager at the Dobies Charitable Trust, said: "Around 20 years ago Mr Dobie established the Dobies Charitable Trust. The aim of the trust was to reinvest in the Cumbrian community, which has supported the growth of Dobies Cumbria over many years.

"The Trust will only support organisations or initiatives with a long term benefit to Cumbrian people. A wide range of causes are supported, for example sports teams, arts organisations, support activities for carers, hospices, scouts/cubs/brownies and playgroups. Many donations are given on an ongoing basis offering a secure funding income for local charities."
