CAMPAIGN: A team effort!

Blues support campaign

Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is urging Cumbrian men to get behind breastfeeding after local surveys have found many are embarrassed by the idea.

The campaign, called Breastfeeding is a Team Effort, features local sportsmen who are proud that their partner breastfed their child. The aim of the campaign is to encourage men to support women to breastfeed if that is the way she chooses to feed her baby.

There are many ways men can support their partner with breastfeeding. These range from providing her with emotional support, helping her to discreetly feed in public if she feels embarrassed, to complimenting her – tell her how proud of her you are and that she looks nice even if she feels awful!

A free iPhone app has been launched as part of the campaign. It allows people to easily find hundreds of breastfeeding friendly places from across Cumbria, including cafes, restaurants, visitor attractions and more. Plus lots of helpful tips and advice for both men and women!
