Carlisle United are delighted to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Josh Vela on an 18-month deal [with an option].
Vela, 30, arrives at Brunton Park after leaving Fleetwood Town where he was captain.
He made 28 appearances for the Cod Army this season and goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s game against Bolton.
Manager Paul Simpson said: “He’s a leader with great experience. He’s played over 300 games and he’s a player we’ve been discussing for many weeks.
“We thought we were close around the time we played Fleetwood on Boxing Day but their manager changed and Josh went back into the team as captain.
“He’s a player who we’re really pleased to get and we think he’ll be a good addition to our group.
“He’s a leader who will not only help us this season but will help us next year as well.”
