Blain spent a year at Newcastle United in the 2016/17 season working with both the academy and first team.
He then spent two years working for Opta Sports, providing match stats for EFL games between 2016 - 2018.
From there, he went back to the north east and joined Middlesbrough, working as an analyst with the U18 team before returning to Cumbria in December 2019.
