The 1994/95 season was one of the most memorable and exciting in the club’s history.
Under the management of Mick Wadsworth, United were Division 3 Champions and played in their first ever Wembley appearance when we were narrowly beaten by Birmingham City in the Autoglass (EFL) Trophy.
A series of highlight packages from the season can be viewed HERE.
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of this historic season CUSG (Carlisle United Supporters’ Group) are marketing a pin badge depicting that season’s home and away shirts - the blue home shirt and the iconic ‘deckchair’ away shirt which the team wore in the Wembley final.
The badges, which were designed by Jane Jardine (who also designed the Jimmy Glass pin badge) cost £3 and will be available in the Blues Store from Thursday onwards.
All proceeds will go towards projects that enhance fans match day experience, with examples of earlier activities HERE.
The press run for the pin badges, which were ordered before the pandemic, is limited to 750, so fans should quickly secure their memento of that historic season as quickly as possible, as demand is always high for these items.
Terry McCarthy, speaking on behalf of CUSG, explained: “It’s unfortunate that we have been delayed in launching this initiative.
“However, I’m sure supporters would still like to have this memento of a truly historic season for our club.
“It’s also a timely reminder of the potential this club of ours has. Nearly 30,000 fans travelled to Wembley to support our team 25 years ago and it’s a day that everybody remembers and talks about fondly.”
