Lads sample a range of new dishes

Those friendly folk from The Flaming Grill, Gosling Bridge – our official away day post-match meal suppliers – invited Paul Thirlwell, Leon McSweeney, Brad Potts and Kit Man Colin Nixon along to the launch of their all-new menu on Tuesday evening ... and it was a big thumbs up from the lads as they got to sample a new range of burgers, hot dogs and kebabs.

“The new soccer burger was a massive hit,” Colin Nixon said. “It came in a soccer ball style bun and I think it was the first thing we all wanted to try. It’s a great idea and I’m sure it will be a hit, particularly when there is a live match showing on the big screen TV’s.”

“I’d like to thank everyone at The Flaming Grill for inviting us down here to sample their new dishes,” Leon McSweeney told us. “We had a good night and they really looked after us. I’m new to the area, so I hadn’t been there before, but I can honestly say that I will definitely be making a return in the very near future.”

The Flaming Grill stepped on board to supply the squad with a range of ready to eat low fat curries, stews and pasta dishes for every away game this season and the meals have been extremely well received.

“We tried things like pizzas and fish and chips but that gets boring and repetitive, to be honest,” club captain Paul Thirlwell said. “The food from The Flaming Grill is top quality and exactly what we need after a game. It feels like another step forward to have those choices available so it’s another thank you to all those involved in supplying it for us.”

“We are long term supporters of the club and it’s fantastic for us that we can help in this way,” Flaming Grill manager Chris Monaghan said. “We understand that it’s important for the players to get the correct type of food after a match and the dishes we supply are all with that in mind.

“It was good for us to be able to grow the relationship even further when some of the lads came along to sample items from our new menu, and we’re looking forward to working with Carlisle United more as we go on from here.”
