United completed their midweek double-header with a trip to West Cumbria to face Workington.

Below is a minute-by-minute report from the game.

2' A long throw into the area was nodded on by Brisley but Taylor readjusted to grasp it as it threatened to creep under the bar.

9' Winger Conor Tinnion cut inside for the hosts but his shot from distance lacked power and was easy for Bonham to save.

12' Workington worked space in the middle of the park but Wright went for a long range effort which sailed over the bar.

17' A great ball from Grainger dropped over the last defender and Salkeld was close as he tried to guide a volley past the stopper and into the net. It was a whisker away as it cleared the far post.

31' Devitt whipped a dangerous corner into the area but it evaded everybody before eventually bouncing in front of goal and heading harmlessly behind.

36' A flowing United move from back to front brought a cross from Grainger which Salkeld volleyed. A half clearance was put back into the mix but a first-time connection from Devitt was straight at Taylor.

38' Grainger found a good corner delivery but it skimmed off Miller's head and past the upright as he came under pressure.

44' A long ball forward found Ryan in space for the home side but his volley flew high into the sky.

51' Shaun Miller had half a yard but he rattled a long range thunderbolt high over the bar. 

52' Calvert dropped a shoulder on the edge of the United box but he scuffed his shot and it lacked the power it needed.

54' A slick exchange of passes released Adams and he strode confidently into the area. His low cross was put behind by Simpson before Miller could tuck it away.

56' Carlisle got the breakthrough when Shaun Miller finished off an incinsive move. He spun 19-yards out and buried an unstoppable shot in the bottom corner.

58' United doubled their lead when a trialist flicked a lovely Adams cross off his forehead and past the keeper.

63' The confident Shaun Miller fashioned a chance from nothing as he dropped a shoulder and shook off his marker. A rifled left-foot drive was saved on the dive by Taylor.

71' United scored another good goal when another trialist forward held the ball up well before spinning and clipping it past Taylor.

89' There were half chances through the closing 20 minutes but that was it for the goalmouth action on a warm and pleasant evening in west Cumbria.
