WE'LL HAVE TO BE ON TOP FORM

Posted on: Wed 18 Nov 2009

Youth boss Eric Kinder spoke to us about the trip to face York City in the FA Youth Cup tonight:

"I watched them against Hartlepool on Saturday and they are a very good side.

They are very well organised and they have decent players in good positions. They have pace on both sides, they defend well and their forwards caused all sorts of problems, so it won't be easy. You can see why they are having such a successful season.

We will definitely have our hands full in this one.

You can tell a decent side by the way that the coach reacts and their staff had very little to say on the side of the pitch. He stood and watched his team play as a team and he must have been very pleased with what he was seeing.

We are going to have to be on top form if we want to get through to the next round. We have let ourselves down a couple of times recently, but if we can get the tempo right then we will be alright.

We didn't play as well as we could against Accrington, but there were so many of them who hadn't played at Brunton Park before. I think they froze a little bit, and they made it hard for themselves.

It's the best competition in the world for Youth football, and that can affect the lads. There is a big build up, and everything is done properly, so it's bound to bring a few added nerves.

The big teams who come into it in the next round will never leave out any of their big players, because they want to win it, and we want to go as far as we can."
