Eric Kinder spoke to us after the 5-1 home victory over Port Vale:

"The thing about this group, they come in sometimes and they are a little bit laid back and they lack a little bit of enthusiasm, which drives me absolutely crazy. The warm up wasn't right. You have got to fall out with them and you have got to stir them up. At half-time I thought we were very fortunate to come in 1-0 up and I thought Port Vale had a lot more of the game than us.

But second-half you look at it and you get Ryan Bowman free, and nine times out of ten he scores goals for you. To get five in one game at any level is a fantastic achievement. I had to fall out with him at half-time because I thought he was a little bit too laid back and a little bit full of himself. Maybe that's rightly so, he has been on the bench for the first-team over the last month, but he has to come back and do his bread and butter stuff to make sure that he gets that contract.

Ryan has just got a couple of little things that he needs to put right first, and if he gets that right he has got a hell of a chance of being a good player. He could have had eight or nine, and he's one of those players that if you take him out of the game you simply wouldn't know what the score would be. With him in it, you tend to feel that we will get goals.

I thought we stuck at it defensively and I thought we looked a little bit better at the back than they did. We deserved the win overall from our second-half performance, with the amount of goal chances that we had, but the scoreline probably flatters us slightly.

I said before the game that I wanted to start with the Youth Cup team for Monday night just to get us up and running again. I am kicking myself over the substitutions because I was going to take Liam Davison off. He was looking a bit tired so it was a straight decision between him and Sean Law. I left Liam on and we have now picked up an injury to the captain that could keep him out for at least another two weeks. Jamie Cleary is looking like he has just got the symptoms of a cold or a flu, so we also have to hope that he recovers for Monday.

I brought Ben Richards-Everton off because I wanted Steven Swinglehurst at centre-half, and I thought that Ben needed a rest. I think everybody knows what I think of Mark Gillespie and how much I rate him. I think Jon Ball is inexperienced at this level at the moment, but his year will come next year. I didn't want to risk anything whatsoever with Mark Gillespie and I am pleased for Jon because he has come in, and he is a bit disappointed with the goal he let in, but it is a fantastic penalty save.

Bowman's goals were all very well taken. We have worked on it all week with him playing on the last defender. It is something that he has got to get right. When he does get his timing right he is likely to finish off 9 out of 10 and that's a great asset to have. Ryan has got a technique where he drops his shoulder and bends it into the net. You saw in the second-half what an outstanding goalscorer he is.

The man of the match award is cut and dried, there is no question about it. You have somebody who scores five then he deserves to get it."
