Eric Kinder spoke to us about the 1-0 Youth victory over Tranmere Rovers:
"That was a very tough game against a very good side. I thought they were actually better today than they were when they beat us down at their place a few weeks ago.
They have some very decent players and that is a win that we have had to grind out. It's good to get a difficult game like that out of the way and I am very pleased with the result.
There was a fair bit of anxiety because it was another one of those games where I didn't know if the ball was going to end up in the back of the net or not. It's the name of the game isn't it. That's why strikers are worth millions, because they do the job that wins you the games.
We have somebody who can do that at this level but he isn't with us, and I have to say that we are missing him. It's no disrespect to our current strikers, because they are working really hard, but it's just that Andy Cook has got himself in to a run where he can score for fun at Youth level. Ryan Bowman is stepping up, and he is doing that really well, but it's a learning curve for him. With Cookie, we feel that the long term benefit for him is to continue his progression with this loan move. I think that really will be to his benefit in the future, and what we have to do is make sure that we do cope without him.
Like I say, our goals have dried up a bit, but that was bound to happen with the loss of such a prolific goal scorer.
I was very pleased with James Reid because he has come in to the side and done well. It's not easy for him because he has left home to come up here and spend a full week with us, and he is still going through that shy period that you get when lads first arrive. However, he is determined to give it his best shot and I'm sure that he will. He will give us a bit more strength up front, and we do need that at the moment.
The goal that we scored was excellent. I thought that Bowman ran the channel well and delivered a great cross. Liam Davison then timed his jump and he finished it with a really good header. There weren't many chances in the game at all, so it was important that we took that one when it came along.
I was pleased with the work rate because it is hard to play on a Monday morning. We were a bit sluggish in the first half and you never really know what you are going to get from young players when they are outside of the normal routine. If you watch the first team, they are ready and at it as soon as they start their warm up. You tend not to get that with the young lads.
As the game went on we got stronger and better with the ball, and that's all I can ask for. I'd have been disappointed with anything other than a win because I thought we deserved it.
The three points keeps the pressure on, particularly with the other results around us. We're in single figures for the amount of games to play, so all we can do is keep going until it's all cut and dried.
We go to Wrexham on Saturday, so we'll know more after that."
