Eric Kinder gave us his reaction to the FA Youth Cup win over Accrington Stanley:
"If I'm going to be totally honest, we didn't play well tonight at all.
It looked like we were still heavy legged from Friday and we never got anywhere near the standard that we have set ourselves.
Andy Cook put us in front early in the game when he got on the end of a pass from Bowman. The keeper saved the first shot, but it came back to him and he put it in, and I thought that might have been just what we needed. It didn't really happen for us though, and it was more a slog than anything else.
Ryan Bowman doubled our lead when he cut in from the right hand side, and I suppose we could say that we were in control of the game at that point. The problem for me was that we never came out of second gear, and it didn't feel like an FA Cup tie at all.
Out third goal was more a keeper error than anything else. Liam Davison hit one from about 25-yards and the lad spilled it then pushed it in to his own net.
The main thing is that we got through it, so I can't criticise them for that. One of our aims at the start of the season was to get to the third round of this competition, and we have managed that, so we have to accept it.
As far as the game goes, we didn't press well enough and we didn't chase hard enough, but we were never in any trouble so maybe the lads felt that they didn't need to.
It was such a low tempo game that it really didn't suit us at all. It could be the fact that we have played Accrington so often recently that a little bit of the edge had gone.
The positives are that the two centre halves were good, and they looked strong together. The midfield never got threatened, so they coasted through it more than anything else, but I will say that the two lads up front worked hard. They got their reward with a goal each, so that was good for them.
I told them at full time that they could be pleased with the result, but not with the fact that they didn't get to the standard of play that we expect.
We've won 3-0, so maybe it sounds like I am being a bit overly critical, but I will always want to see better than what they gave us tonight, whatever the result. I want to see them push themselves more than they did.
After the game people were coming up and telling me that we have some very talented players, so I accept that I do look at it differently from other people, but that's because I know that we are better than that.
Mind you, if someone had said at lunch time that we would play badly and still win by three goals, I'd have snapped their hands off.
I'm not sure why they were so lethargic in this game. The build up was right, the preparation was right and they were making the right noises, but they retreated in to themselves as soon as the first whistle blew.
The lads have said themselves that they didn't play to their potential. It's good that they recognise that, because they are used to a better level of performance than that.
One thing I can guarantee is that we'll have to play much better than that if we want to go any further in this competition. If we don't, then we will get a bloody nose.
Our aims at the start of the season were to get to the third round of this competition, go as far as we could in the Alliance Cup and finish as high as we could in the league. As it stands we are still on course with all three.
It's been a hectic couple of days, and we have to accept that the expectancy of the Youth Cup takes its toll mentally.
Don't get me wrong, it probably sounds like I am disappointed, but that's not the case at all. I'm actually delighted with them, but that won't stop me from pushing them as hard as I can. As a coach you want your team to play well every week. Perhaps I am asking the impossible ... but it won't stop me from asking for it anyway."
