Eric Kinder spoke to us about the 3-1 victory over Port Vale on Saturday:

"I don't think we played as well as we can in this game, particularly in the first half.

Port Vale are a good side, and they seemed to be up for it more than we were. They came in to the game on the back of some very good results and they pushed us back.

We've said before that we can fall in to the trap where we expect to just roll teams over when they come here, but I'm not sure if this was the case this time round.

There was something wrong even in the warm up, because I could see that the lads just weren't right. I spoke to them about it, but they took it in to the game with them and I was worried about it initially.

Fortunately, we weathered the early pressure and we found ourselves in front with our first real attack of the day. A long ball forward from Alex Mitchell went to Ryan Bowman and I was pleased with the way that he finished things off.

Two minutes later and we were two up thanks to a very good cross from Jonny Blake. Andy Cook did what he does and got across his man to head it in.

So, there we were having started the game not at our best, and we were somehow two goals up. That shows how strange football can be sometimes, because they had played the better football up to that point.

They pegged a goal back on us, with Ryan Bowman getting our third goal with another very good finish, so I suppose we have to be happy with the result.

We did make some other very good chances, and I have told this team that if they keep a clean sheet then they are going to win games.

With Bowman and Cook playing the way that they do, we have goals in us in almost every game. That is a very encouraging thing for us.

Defensively we did very well again, although we did invite them in more than I am comfortable with. Like I say, we were better in the second half, and the conditions were awful.

But, it was another win and the lads have dug in there to keep their run going.

We can go in to the tough away fixtures against Blackpool and Hartlepool and see what that brings us, but hopefully we can keep it all going.

Team wise, I brought Mark Gillespie on at 3-0 because I felt that it was a good time for him to make his debut at this level."
