Eric Kinder gave us his assessment of the 2-2 away draw with Macclesfield:

"The performance was better than the result today, and we actually totally dominated a game that we should have won by four or five clear goals.

However, we ended up finding ourselves 2-1 down with about five minutes left to play, and it looked like we were going to get nothing at all from it.

I'm not entirely sure how we managed to get ourselves in to that situation, but we did so we have to accept it.

We started brightly, but it was 0-0 at half time and that does make you wonder whether it will be your day or not. We were playing some good football, but we had only created two or three half chances prior to the break.

We can probably say that we should have scored from one of them, but we didn't capitalise and we had to start all over again in the second half.

We kept the same pace of play up in the second half, and we got ouselves in front in the 65th minute through Andy Cook. He took the ball off them when they got in to a muddle at the back, and he smashed it in to the bottom corner with what was a very good finish.

Unfortunately we were then bitten by our usual problem, and we immediately conceded from the restart. We were probably ahead for less than 30 seconds, and it was a route one, simple goal when their full back pumped it forward for their very tall forward to get on to. We didn't cover our back post and he was there to put it away.

It got even worse for us because we suddenly found ourselves behind. They went down our right and we didn't deal with it, allowing them to cross, and their lad had the relatively easy task of popping it in to our bottom corner.

I was then stood on the touchline wondering how we had lost a game like this but, to be fair to the lads, they came back and went for it. It was a very strong finish from us and Shaun Law pounced on a ball that dropped in front of him inside the penalty box and he kept his composure as he stuck it under the keeper.

I thought we were going to nick it in the last minute when Andy Cook broke through the back line. In hindsight, I think he should have squared the ball to Ryan Bowman, but the keeper pulled off what was an incredible save anyway.

Ryan is a bit upset about it, but I have told him that I can see both sides of the argument. Andy Cook is in a good run of scoring form, and he will have felt that he could have finished it, whereas Ryan Bowman knows that all he would have had to do was tap it in, had it been laid across to him.

Taking that chance away, we should be talking about a game that we have just won by three or four goals right now. We haven't, and we have paid for lapses in concentration yet again.

I thought our back four were outstanding again today, despite the two goals. Tom Aldred was up against a huge striker, and I think he only lost two aerial challenges all day.

I just thought that we were a little bit naive, and the first years haven't quite got to grips with the full 90 minutes that is required. They are getting there though, so I am not too worried. I think we will have to work harder when we don't have possession, and that's something that we'll look closely at, but there isn't too much wrong.

It's turning out to be the same as last season really, and we just have to stay patient as the boys develop and get stronger. Once they all settle then I have no doubt that we will be alright.

Unfortunately we are already in a position where we will now be playing catch-up, but that's the way it is and we'll get on with it. Like I say, the performance was miles better than the result, and that is always the important thing.

It is still very, very encouraging for us because we have some very good players. We have some commanding figures in the side, and we just need those lads to come through a bit more. We're a nice team at the moment, and nice teams don't win things. They entertain and they please people a lot of the time, but they tend to get edged out more often than not.

We now need a few strong personalities to add to that mix. We need a few players who are going to go out there and demand more from their team members. We haven't quite got that yet. What we have are some very decent lads who don't quite want to yell and push each other at the moment. That will come though, it's just something that they need to learn. We have the people who can be like that, they just need to show us it.

We're still on the look out for a couple of players, as we are a little bit light at the moment, but we won't rush that just for the sake of it. I will only bring players in who will improve us, and I don't mind how long it takes to find them."
