Eric Kinder spoke to us about the Wigan game:

"I think that the postponements finally caught up with us.

Matt Brown and Matt Wood were both involved, but neither of them were anywhere near match fit. It was a case of using them because I had to.

Add to that the fact that Tom Aldred was sent home earlier in the day, with tonsilitis, and that we lost Ryan Bowman within 60 seconds of the kick off, to a bad tackle, and you can see that we were up against it.

I had to play with three at the back because of that, which was tough on the lads. To be fair to them, they gave it a really good bash, and it's a shame that it has come to this for them.

We knew we had to win, so we went for it, but we got done over by two late goals.

We didn't really start off too well in the first half. Browny struggled through for us, even though he was effectively playing on one leg, and he was supported by Matt Duffy and Jonny Blake. Matt was outstanding in this game, he really was, but they all worked hard.

Like I say, that was a makeshift line up, and I was juggling it again almost as soon as we kicked off. Shaun Law came on and took Woody's position, allowing him to push further forward.

We went a goal down just before the break, when we had a corner. They cleared it, raced away and suddenly we were behind. That was an awful goal to give away, from my point of view.

During the break I asked them to go out there and give it everything they had and, full credit to every one of them, that's what they did.

With 20 minutes left to play, Mike Hepplethwaite was brought down and Matt Duffy scored the penalty. At 1-1 I felt that we might just have a chance. Andy Cook then had a goal disallowed for offside, and I wasn't too happy about that. I was in line with it, and he looked fine to me. You have to accept these decisions, but it is very frustrating when you know that it is a wrong one.

They scored twice after that, and it was a really unfair result. The lads gave it everything they had and, if the Andy Cook goal had been allowed, I think they'd have seen it through. Even though we're all very disappointed with the result, I have to say that I am delighted with them, and with how they approached the game. In the end, it's the wave of a flag that has made the difference.

I am really struggling for Saturday now. I can't see Ryan Bowman being available, Matt Brown is having real problems, so I don't think I'll be using him, Dan Wordsworth is missing and Matt Wood is struggling, so it's going to cause me real selection problems.

It's a tough end to the season for them now. I reminded them this morning that it doesn't really matter what happens in these remaining games. They have had a superb season, and they should all be proud of it. The injuries and postponements have been the undoing of us, and that's a shame, but it's also football. We just have to get on with it and hold our heads high knowing that we have shown people what a good side we are."
