Eric Kinder gave his reaction to the 4-1 Youth win over Chester on Saturday:

"We had to play the game on the bottom pitches because of the conditions, and it was a much smaller playing area than we are used to.

We like to play the ball across the pitch, so we found it all a bit tight in the opening stages. It took us a few minutes to get going, but once we got our heads around it, we were fine.

We bossed the game from start to finish, really, and it was a comfortable day for us.

Browny hit the post after 35 minutes, and he was really unlucky not to score from that. Ryan Bowman had a great chance about two minutes after that, when he went through with just the keeper to beat. He managed to get his body in the way, and I was gutted at that because Bogey was desperate to get off the mark for this team.

We got the goal we deserved after 41 minutes when Tom Aldred knocked a ball in to the box, and Andy Cook did the rest. Cooky was outstanding all day, to be fair to him, and I was pleased with the way he took this one. He controlled it on his chest, held his marker off and then swivelled and smashed it in.

That put us one up at the break, but we got caught with a real sucker punch shortly after the restart. They went down our left, crossed it and had one of their forwards in the right position to head it in. It was a simple goal, and I can't really explain what went on for it, or why it happened. We'd defended really well, but we didn't have a defender in sight when they attacked for their goal.

There was still no problem as far as I was concerned, because we were the better side and we were using the ball better. Andy Cook got his second in the 56th minute when he received the ball just inside the box, turned and stroked it away with his right foot. A better description of it would be to say that it trickled over the line, but they all count!

We made it 3-1 when Alex Mitchell launched another huge kick in to their half. Both of their centre halves missed it, and Bogey was there to lob it over the keeper for that first goal that he's been after. I'm pleased for him, I really am, because you could see him puff himself up when he scored it. That will really settle him down now, I would think, and we should see a really good player begin to develop. In fact, he was a real handful, along with Cooky, so they look like a really good pairing.

We finished things off with a Shaun Law free kick from out wide, and Andy Cook was just about to get there for his third when their defender got in the way and scored an own goal.

All in all it was a really good morning. We've had two U16 players on the pitch, and they have looked really comfortable. Like I say, the strikers caused all sorts of worries, the midfield covered every blade of grass and, apart from a sleepy moment just after half time, we looked exceptionally strong at the back.

The lads can feel pleased with themselves because they have set themselves up for the big weekend that comes next weekend. If we can come through the games against Wigan and Blackpool then it will be really interesting for us."
