A LOOK BACK AT OLDHAM
Dave Wilkes told us about the 2-1 away defeat at Oldham last weekend:
"We got off to a great start in the game. Almost with our first attack, we scored a goal.
Some good possession from the kick off forced a corner, and Connor Tinnion whipped in a great ball for Gary Madine to get on the end of. He managed to score with a header, and that put us one up.
It was a good open game in the first half. We restricted Oldham to a few chances, although they did get in a couple of times, so they had to rely on long range shots.
We had another great chance to score when Steve Hindmarch went one on one. Unfortunately he put his shot just wide of the far post, as that would have given us a bit of a cushion going in to half time.
In the second half, to be fair to Oldham, they did come at us more.
Shortly after the break Grant Carson was unable to hold on to a cross, which then fell to one of their lads, and he capitalised and scored.
That seemed to knock us out of our rhythm, really, and we lost our concentration for the next five minutes. Oldham took advantage with another goal, a shot from the edge of the box that should really have been dealt with better, and it was a bit of an easy goal to give away. That gave Oldham the momentum and it took us a little bit of time to get back in to the game. In the last 20 minutes we gave as good as we got, but without creating any clear chances.
It was disappointing, really, having done so well in the first half. That 5 minutes of madness cost us the points in a game where we could possibly have got something, in terms of a result."
